Osprey with fish!

ఇది (కొన్ని సంవత్సరాల క్రితం మూసివేయబడిన) టెనొరాక్‌ అనే మైన్‌సైటులో. ఇలా పక్షులు చేపలని వేటాడటం మేము చూడటం, ఫొటో తీయడం కూడా మొదటిసారి. దగ్గరలోనే రెండు గూళ్ళు ఉండటం వల్ల, ఆస్ప్రే(సముద్రపుకాకి - పేరులోనే తప్ప ఇంకెక్కడా కాకికి సంబంధం లేదు, లేక కొరమీను గద్ద(?) ) తన పిల్లలకి ఆహారం కోసం వేటాడుతుందని అనుకున్నాం.

మీకు తెలుసా:
1. ఒక గూటిలో పిల్లా పెద్దా కలిసి రోజుకి 7-8 చేపలు తింటాయని? ఆడ ఆస్ప్రే పిల్లలదగ్గెర ఉంటే, రోజస్తమాను మగపక్షి ఈ వేట హడావిడిలోనే ఉంటుందేమో ఇంక.
2. ఈ పక్షులు ఒకసారి జంటకట్టాయంటే సాధారణంగా జీవితాంతం కలసుంటాయని?

This picture was taken at a closed down mine site, now transformed into a fish management area and a great site for bird and random wildlife viewing. We were fortunate to witness and photograph (our first time) the hunting of Osprey (sea hawk) by diving into water to catch the fish! Spectacular! We saw a couple of osprey nests nearby and figured that it is breeding season and the osprey is hunting for the babies.

Do you know that:
1. Ospreys and babies in a nest will eat 7-8 fish per day? Guess the male bird will be busy almost all day hunting while the female stays close to the nest.
2. Ospreys usually mate for life?
