ఉదయకిరణాలలో మెరుస్తున్న Arches National Park లోని "Windows" ప్రాంతం. చరిత్ర లాగే భూవిజ్ఞానం కూడా భలే ఆసక్తిగా అనిపిస్తుంది ఈమధ్య. ఈరోజు మనం ఎంతో అందంగా ఉన్నాయని చూస్తున్న కొండలూ, గుట్టలూ, లోయలూ, గుహలు ఏర్పడటానికి, గాలి, నీరు, నిప్పు, అగ్నిపర్వతాలు, భూకంపాలు లాంటి ప్రాకృతిక కారకాల ద్వారా కొన్ని కోట్ల సంవత్సరాలు పట్టిందన్న విషయం ఎంతో చోద్యంగా ఉండటమే కాదు, ఈ జగన్నాటకంలో మనిషి జీవితకాలం ఎంత చిన్నదీ, మన బాదరబందీలూ/గొడవలూ ఎంత అల్పమైనవీ అని కూడా అనిపిస్తుంది. మొత్తానికి, ఆగ్నేయ యూటా (Southeastern Utah) ట్రిప్పు చాలా హృద్యంగా గడిచింది. అసలు బయల్దేరడమే చాలా హఠాత్తుగా, అప్పటికప్పుడు అనుకుని బయల్దేరడం (అదీ ఏకంగా ఈ మూలున్న ఫ్లోరిడా నుంచి) కూడా అందుకు చాలా తోడ్పడింది.
"Windows" section of the Arches National Park glowing at sunrise. Lately, we started realizing that we love geological perspective of places, as much as historical perspective. The fact that what you now see as beautiful arches, caves, landscapes took millions of years of deposition and erosion due to natural forces such as water and air, and other geological events such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions etc., makes it so so interesting, as well as makes one realize how minuscule/insignificant/petty one's life and day-to-day issues/concerns are compared to the big picture. Overall, had a great time in Southeastern Utah for labor day weekend. The trip being as impromptu as it can get, all the way from Florida, added so much more to the experience.
